Alice: Madness Returns

Introduction
I never was a fan of the original book... It was too weird for me. The movie was even weirder. I decided to review this anyway, and dive deep back through the rabbit hole into Wonderland. This game is a sequel to the similar game, "American McGee's Alice". Both are action games that follow a bizarre story of an insane Alice as she restores Wonderland back to it's normal state by shooting and stabbing everything in sight, Yeah, that will cure insanity. So, it is an American McGee game. Is it any good?

The Review
This game gets most things right. The controls are good. They are responsive and feel comfortable. American McGee's redesign of Wonderland is dark and creepy, and beautiful. The game has a good length. It is not too long but not short enough to feel you were ripped off. The unique weapons are fun. Imagine how fun it would be to shoot a guy down with a pepper grinder? Well, you can do that here! The game also has lots of cool secrets to find. Be sure to look everywhere!

This world isn't for the faint of heart!
There are very few problems with this game. The puzzles are never fun. Yes, even an insane Alice can handle puzzles. They put the puzzles in there to make the gameplay more varied, but it just detracts from the experience. There are also some glitches too, mostly audio-visual ones, but nothing that will distract you from the rest of the game. The only other problem is that the gameplay feels kind of repetitive. While there are lots of amazing levels to explore, and lots of unique types of enemies, it still has that "been there, done that" feel that a lot of action games get.

Alice is creepy and kind of hot.
Highlights
The Good: Great controls, amazing redesign of Wonderland, good length, unique weapons, and there are lots of secrets to find.

The Bad: Puzzles are never fun, some distracting glitches, and repetitive gameplay.

The Result: I give it 4 out of 5.
