Infamous 2 Review

Introduction
Well, E3 is only a short while away... Let's see some cool games! I have nothing to say about E3 as of yet, so here is my review of the new sandbox, action adventure game, Infamous 2! It is obviously a sequel to a rather okay first game, as it faced off against a very similar game, Prototype. It is funny that Prototype 2 is coming out pretty soon too... You play as Cole McGrath, a super powered being with the power to harness electricity and use it as a weapon. (Think of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars as a hero.) One of the coolest features in the game is the new mission creation tool, which works well with sandbox games (GTA needs this!) I rented this anyway, as I heard you get access to the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta. Was the beta (or I mean game!) worth it?

The Review
Infamous 2 is not a bad game. No. Just not a great game. The game looks great. The stylized art really makes it stand out, and the electricity effects are beautiful! (If you are not the one being hit by them!) The game also has a great original soundtrack that helps suck you into the game. The mission creation tool I mentioned earlier works great. While can be difficult to master at first, you will be making great missions in no time at all. Another thing I should remind you of is this: Just like it's predecessor, it is still fun. Even with all the annoyances. Zapping guys never gets old...

Cole is a model citizen.
Here is the bad. The game should have left the morality system out if they were going to do it this way. According to Infamous 2's morality system, you are a great citizen if you murder a few innocent civilians. If you save their sorry asses, well, you are evil! The other main problem is the difficulty hikes. Games are supposed to get progressively harder, but I guess that messes with the sandbox elements, so they mixed it all up. Now it gets progressively hard and easy, if that makes any sense.

The game has a great art style. Sucker punch!
Highlights
The Good: Great art design, great original soundtrack, great mission creation tool, and can still be fun.

The Bad: Stupid morality system, and some uneven difficulty hikes.

The Result: I give it 3.5 out of 5.
