Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions Review

NOTE: I reviewed the Nintendo 3DS handheld a few days ago, and I said it was way overpriced. Just today, it was announced that Nintendo would be cutting the price way down from $250 to $170, probably in hopes to raise sales.

Introduction
Are you a fan of Pac-Man, or Galaga? Are you a fan of 3D? Are you a fan of Pac-Man Championship Edition, Galaga Legions or sidescrolling platformers? Why am I asking this? Because I am reviewing a complication of games, some new and some old, but they all involve those two arcade classics. The game also comes with some achievements for each game included and a trailer for some stupid new TV show I don't care about. So, is it any good?

The Review
Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions overall is not a bad complication. As long as you like the original Pac-Man and Galaga arcade games, the originals in here are a blast. The complication has some new and innovative uses of the 3DS's features, such as the use of 3D to simulate the look of staring down into an arcade machine with the original games, and the complication uses the Gyroscope and Accelerometer a lot as well. The versions of the Pac-Man Championship Edition and the Galaga Legions games are okay, even though they are not the best versions of those games.

Pac-Man is no Mario.

The pack is not the best value, especially if you own Pac-Man Championship Edition and Galaga Legions already, since the newer games suck and you can play the original games for free online (without the 3D effect). Did I mention that the newer games suck? Galaga 3D Impact (a shooter from a 3D first person perspective) looks great, but the gameplay itself is boring. Pac-Man Tilt (a platformer where you have to tilt the 3DS to maneuver obstacles) is even worse, with it's lousy controls, repetitive music and charmless graphics.

The complication emulates the classic games well.

Highlights
The Good: The originals are great, innovative use of 3DS features, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Galaga Legions are okay.

The Bad: Not the best value, and the two newest games are mediocre at best.

The Result: I give it 3 out of 5.
